1) First 'mobile phone ticket' for World Expo unveiled in Shanghai

The Shanghai World Expo, which will open on May 1, 2010, will have visitors use a "mobile phone ticket" for the first time in World Expo history.

Experts from Shanghai Mobile explained that radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and subscriber identity module (SIM) were combined so that the users do not need to change their phone numbers, but get a SIM card that combines with the RFID, then the whole process of ticket purchase and ticket inspection can be done via cell phones.

2) B.C. privacy head pans Google’s Street View

Canadians can now cruise their streets on Google’s Street View, which went live in Vancouver and several other Canadian cities Wednesday.

In a service that has raised privacy concerns in other countries where it has been implemented, Street View on Google Maps takes Web surfers on a 360-degree virtual tour through streets and neighbourhoods.

Over the next year, every member of the Exeter High School family will be tasked to take an introspective look at all aspects of the school as EHS begins the reaccreditation process.... The four teaching and learning standards are: curriculum, instruction, assessment of student learning, and mission and expectation. Gemalto, Microsoft‚ and Citrix‚ have worked together to develop identity and access management solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of healthcare organisations.

This development can be seen as a reaction to the rising concern about the protection of personal data records. The subject of the ownership of personal data will be a hot topic at EIfEL's MISC conference, with a special theme focusing on healthcare.
